India week in Moscow -English International School (EIS)

Thanks to Niall Williams, who was the volunteer from UK in 2004 at PCTC, Ross Hunter, headteacher at EIS and all the staff and students of EIS for fundraising to support PCTC's Initiative THULIR CHILDREN'S Program

Between 24-28th May 2010 The English International School (EIS) Moscow presented a week-long programme of events about the wonderful country of India. EIS is a small international school of one hundred and fifty pupils which offers a British education to international families living in Moscow.
Staff at EIS decided to put on India Week to raise pupils' awareness of various aspects of Indian culture but also to allow them to empathise with people who might have a quality of life very different to their own. Whilst Pupils at EIS do come from forty countries, they are unlikely to have experienced the economic hardship that many Indians experience on a day-to-day basis.
During India Week pupils were fortunate enough to experience a range of aspects of Indian culture. The Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre at the Indian Embassy in Moscow and Mr. Jimmy Kotwani, an Indian businessman based in Moscow, supported EIS in developing a programme that included Indian cooking, dance, theatre, martial arts, yoga and henna tattooing. However, pupils also spent this week fund-raising for The People's Craft Training Centre, where Mr. Niall Williams, teacher of humanities at EIS, volunteered in 2004. Pupils participated in a raffle with prizes donated from members of the Indian community in Moscow and also participated in a 'Give-Up-A-Thon' in which they were sponsored to give up something that they liked in order to raise money for PCTC. Ross Hunter, headteacher at EIS, was very pleased to announce that staff and pupils had raised one thousand Euros which is to be used for PCTC's Thulir Children's Programme.

  1. Schools that incorporate IB and IGCSE are beyond doubt international schools. In India, you will find that most international schools offer a combination of IB, ICSE and IGCSE. Most of the IB schools also have day boarding facility too.
